EN-19 Alloy Steel
Application : Automobile Industry, Construction, Pharmaceutical / Chemical Industry, Oil & Gas Industry

EN-19 Alloy Steel Is a common chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, renowned for its good ductility and shock resistant and its resistance to wear properties. At low temperatures EN19 has reasonably good impact properties. It is also suitable for a variety of elevated temperature applications. For maximum wear and abrasion resistance, EN19 can be nitrided to give a shallow depth wear resistant case. Flame or induction hardening can give a case hardness of 50 HRC or higher.

Equivalent Grades :
  • BS970:1955 EN19BS970:1970 onwards: 709M40
  • Related European grades: 42CrMo4
  • Werkstoff no.: 1.7225US

EN-24 Alloy Steel
Application : Automobile Industry, Construction, Pharmaceutical / Chemical Industry, Oil & Gas Industry

EN-24 is a through-hardening alloy steel which offers excellent machinability in the “T” condition. EN24T is used in components such as heavy duty shafts, gears, studs and bolts, its hardness is in the range 248-302 HB. EN24T can be further surface-hardened by induction or nitriding processes, producing components with enhanced wear resistance. EN24 steel is a readily machinable material, widely used as engineering steel due to its tensile strength. The material provides a combination of high tensile strength with shock resistance, ductility and wear resistance. EN24T also retains its good impact properties at low temperatures which means it if often used in harsh offshore environments.

Equivalent Grades :
  • BS 970:1955 :EN24T
  • BS 970:1991 :817M40T
  • German / DIN :34CrNiMo6

Hardening :
Heat uniformly to 823/850°C until heated through. Quench in oil.Tempering: Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperature, up to 660°C and hold at heat for two hours per inch of total thickness.Tempering between 250-375°C in not recommended as this can seriously reduce the steels impact value.

Stress Relieving :
Heat slowly to 650-670°C, soak well. Cool the EN24 tool in a furnace or in air.

Applications :
EN24 is often used to produce parts for heavy equipment such as locomotives, cranes, rolling mills and coal cutting machinery, gears, studs and bolts

En-31 Alloy Steel
Application : Automobile Industry, Construction, Pharmaceutical / Chemical Industry, Oil & Gas Industry

En-31 Alloy Steel is a quality high carbon alloy steel which offers a high degree of hardness with compressive strength and abrasion resistance. Because of high carbon content it has a good strength and used in moulds back plating. It is also called bearing steel.

Equivalent Grades :
  • 100Cr6, AISI SAE E52100, 100Cr6, 2258, 100C6
